The apartment: Originally known as “The Old Oven House”. It is now a very unique building in a very pretty village. It was reformed in 2006 -2008 and is 2 story’s high containing 4 apartments. The exterior is mainly traditional stone. There are 2 bedrooms, a living /dining area and open plan kitchen. Inside has many oak beams and traditional stone walls. It has been furnished traditional style with all new furniture and electrical appliances. Eco, low energy heaters & a traditional log burning fire. There is a full sized cooker & oven, an automatic washing machine, a dishwasher, and a micro wave. & plenty of cooking and dining utensils. Also a TV, Video, DVD, & radio/music player. Extras available include: a slow cooker, an electric BBQ grill, garden/terrace furniture. The large south facing large enclosed terrace attracts the sun most of the day most of the year. In front of the casa is a lane/track with vehicular access, then a river. The outlook is forests and mountains. Delightful and breathtaking walks & tracks through meadows abound from the casa. Most of the year these tracks go past areas of outstanding wild flowers, shrubs, herbs, wild life including birds, mammals, domesticated animals, small settlements, churches, shrines etc & alongside rivers and streams. There are refuges & resting places along the way. The lane in front of the casa is not a through road to vehicles and serves the local Posada and 1 further English owned casa. Intimate & celebration special occasions can be catered for on request or child minding services.

The village is about 10 kms from Potes on the edge of the Picos de Europa. Journey time is approximately:
•90 mins Santander (airport & seaport from UK, Ireland and other European cities
•2 hours Bilbao (airport & seaport from UK
•2 hours Aviles in Asturias (airport from UK)
•30 mins from Fuente De (the longest mountain cable car in Europe)
•40 mins to coastal resorts with wonderful beaches
Este pueblo se conoce como el pueblo del agua con varios riachuelos y mantiales con una charka de patos y zona de ocio, un café bar llevado por gente Britanica, Un restaurante de la Sidra que sirve un fantastico cordero y sidra casera, tambien hacen vino y orujo local.
Liebana es una zona ideal para caminantes y amantes de la naturaleza, un lugar impactante en nuestras primeras visitas por la belleza de los Picos de Europa. Esta zona ofrece multitud de actividades deportivas, tanto acuaticas como en tierra.
Hay tipicas fiestas locales que atraen a cientos de turistas, al igual que su Monasterio Santo Toribio de Liebana, a donde acuden miles de peregrinos y visitantes para ver el Lignum Crucis cuando este es mostrado por los monjes del lugar.
It is known as the water village having several streams & rivers running through with a duck pond, seats, & walks around the village. There are about 20 casas including an English run hotel with a café/bar & serving meals & snacks. The village Cider Restaurant is open during most of the year & serves naturally grown BBQ’d lamb and produce and sell: their own cider, which is notorious in the area, and locally produced wines and Orujo.
Potes: is a walkers, nature lovers, & sports enthusiasts paradise. You name it & Potes & area have it, including a well serviced and equipped sports centre (for the occasional rainy day – it is “Green Spain”!!!). There are 4WD rides, Quads, horse-riding, biking, walking (some organized & free), fishing, canoeing, rafting, guided nature walks, mountaineering etc all at very reasonable rates. Potes has: a Monday Market, traditional shops, café/bars and restaurants serving “meal of the day” for about 12 Euros, 3 supermarkets, & riverside walks. It is possible to eat outside most of the year. There are two tourist information offices with free leaflets & demonstrations, displays & films of the area including the history & geology & flora & fauna & traditions. The Monastery of Santo Toribio is within walking distance of Potes & it is on the Pilgrims’ route to Santiago-de-Compostella in Galicia. The Monastery has regular services and tours and the Monks supply local “Vino”!!! The local vino is called Orujo which comes in numerous varieties and is very alcoholic. Potes have an Orujo festival which doesn’t just include their local brews but sports & entertainment
